To begin with heat a large pan with medium heat, make sure it is well heated before cooking anything on it. Add the olive oil, spread well and wait for it to warm some, then add the meat to the pan.

Spread the meat well in between the pan. Meanwhile combine the brown sugar and the steak seasoning for flavor. Throw in the sugar and the spice to the pan with the meat and mix.

Sloppy Joes mix in well with some Super Bowl party drinksdon’t forget about those!

Once the meat has browned (not charred) add the sliced onion and red peppers to the mix. Reduce the heat a little to a slow burn while the onion and the peppers cook, add some red wine vinegar and the famous Worcestershire sauce (A sauce originally from England, it has its story). Let it cook like for 5 minutes in the low burn as the flavor comes out.

Add the tomato sauce and paste to the mix and stir it well for 5 minutes more.

The final result should be some tasty sloppy meat to put on the toasted bread, with butter on both buns.

Serve it with tomato slices seasoned with salt and pepper, pickles potato salad. It should be a “sloppy” meal, so expect dirty fingers and some pours!

Making Happy Joes:

Mini Super Bowl Meatball Sandwiches

After Happy Joes we declare Meatball Sandwhiches as the most American of Recipes. Easy, fast, messy and delicious. If you ask me a Game Day food needs to include lots and lots of meat, I could eat a dozen of these or more.

Super Bowl recipe

Difficulty: Very easy

Total Making Time: 50 min

Preparation: 25 min

Cooking Time: 25 min

For how many people: 12 people or 12 sandwiches

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of ground beef or chuck
  • ½ cup of panko or other types of breadcrumbs
  • ½ glass of milk
  • 2 slices or garlic, make them minced
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Black pepper, ground it
  • 2 spoons of olive oil
  • One half medium onion, in small pieces
  • Marinara sauce, the full jar!
  • 12 dinner rolls or instead use slider rolls
  • 2 cups of mozzarella cheese

How to Make

First off take the meat and mix it up with the breadcrumbs, some milk, garlic, salt and pepper, everything tightly mixed with your own hands. Nothing like getting your hands dirty with a Super Bowl food party recipe!

Roll the mix into spoon size and leave it for now.

Warm the olive oil in a large pan under medium heat. Add the onions until they cook well over a minute. Then throw-in the meatballs in until they brown, shouldn´t take more than another minute. As you might have too many meatballs for your pan, do it in batches or groups and keep the cooked meatballs on another low warmed pan.

With the meatballs in the pan pour in the marinara full jar, cover the pan with a lid and shake gently to mix everything up inside. Let it simmer for 20 minutes with medium heat.

Now you are ready to serve, cut each bread roll in half and place a handfuls of mozzarella cheese on the top and bottom of each roll. Serve a meatball into the middle of the buns, cover them and dig in!

Here is a simple explanatory video of how to make the meatballs, if not the same exact recipe:

Super Bowl Chinese Snack Mix

Chinese snack mixes are not for everyone. A little weird and lengthy to make just to be munched away by teenagers, but easy to make in simple steps. Nothing better than to have something crunchy to chew the entire game while you place your Super Bowl bets.

Game Day Snacks

Difficulty: Very Easy

Total Making Time: 3 days

Preparation: 20 minutes

Cooking Time: 20 minutes

For how many people: 4 hungry friends

Ingredients

  • 3 cups or rice cereal, use any kind
  • 3 cups of dried snap peas
  • 2 cups of crunchy chow mein noodles, yummy!
  • 1 and a half cups of roasted and salted almonds
  • 1 and a half cups of sesame sticks
  • 4 spoons of butter, melt it down when about to use
  • 2 spoons of soy sauce
  • 2 spoons of sugar, brown recommended
  • 1 spoon of rice wine vinegar
  • 2 slices of garlic, grate them really well
  • Half a teaspoon of Chinese five-spice
  • Just a little pinch of red pepper flakes to cover the mix
  • Some salt
  • 1 and a half cups of wasabi peas

How to Make

Begin by pre-heating the oven by 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Get a large bowl and toss the rice cereal, snap peas, chow mein noodles, almonds and sesame sticks together, mix lightly by shaking the bowl.

Now get another smaller bowl to mix in the sauce. Take the melted butter, soy sauce, sugar, vinegar, garlic, the five-spice, and pepper flakes with the half teaspoon of salt and mix very well. Make sure the mix has melted all together.

Now pour the sauce over the snack mix and shake the big bowl.

Take the snack out of the bowl and spread out over a rimmed baking sheet, make sure you can stir it easily from time to time. Bake the mix in the oven for 16 to 18 minutes and shaking it half way through. By the end the mix should be almost completely dry.

Take it out from the oven and mix in the wasabi peas, stir well. Leave it for an hour or more until it cools down completely, then story in a well-sealed container for 3 days.

Chinese Bei is a similar type of snack, but no freezing proccess involved:

  • A quarter cup of tequila, brand is on you
  • Half teaspoon of chili powder
  • 1 lime juice
  • Tortilla chips, these will be your utensils

Once cooled remove the skin from the poblanos. Add the charred vegetables to the food processor with the tequila of your liking, the chili powder, lime juice and the half teaspoon of salt and black pepper. The black pepper should be smooth but still chunky enough.
